HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

 

Akron-Canton, Ohio area

 

Duties:

·         Manage salaried and hourly benefit and compensation policies and programs and implement controls to ensure compliance for eight OH & PA field locations.

·         Coordinate and monitor the administration of group life, short & long term disability, vision, health and dental insurance plans, pension plans and 401(k) plan.

·         Assist location supervisors in the preparation of job descriptions to ensure proper utilization of location positions.

·         Maintain updated job descriptions and organizational charts for all positions.

·         Evaluate new and changed salaried positions to ensure proper salary grade is assigned and notify Vice President, Human Resources of any discrepancies.

·         Administer the employment, transfer and termination of employees in accordance with policy.  Ensure compliance at all locations. 

·         Process and follow through on all documents relative to newly hired, transferred, promoted or terminated salaried employees to ensure all documents are properly prepared and processed.

·         Assist departmental and location managers in the recruitment and selection of the personnel.

·         Provide for proper retention, disposition, safekeeping and control of all employee personnel and insurance records.  Implement controls to ensure confidentiality.

·         Administer COBRA insurance coverage for qualified hourly union participants.  Ensure all paperwork and payments are processed within time limits established by law.

·         Administer Human Resources policies and procedures and implement controls to monitor compliance at the listed locations.

·         Ensure the Vice President, Human Resources is advised of all pertinent activity at the listed locations.

·         Ensure no salaried and/or hourly employee is terminated or disciplined without proper notification to the Vice President, Human Resources.

·         Conduct labor negotiations, Industrial Board proceedings and related industrial relations matters pertaining to the union facilities. (Employee union, Teamsters, Steelworkers)

·         Keep current on all the labor, benefit and employment laws and ensure compliance at all above listed locations.

·         Oversee the Welfare Plans and Defined Pension Plans to ensure all transactions are in compliance with Master Plan Documents.

·         Ensure drug/alcohol policy, background checks and physical exams for responsible locations are adhered to and proper paperwork is in place.

 

Requirements:

·         4 year degree desired-Human Resource/Labor Relations

·         7-10 years manufacturing experience-metalworking or steel processing.

·         Strong experience in employee relations, staffing and benefit administration.

·         Strong labor relations experience-contract negotiation, grievances, arbitration, etc.

·         Experience with skilled and unskilled employee relations issues.
